Since Windows 98, Windows taskbar view never again appear innocent. You can add various toolbars there. Let’s say you click the right mouse button on the taskbar, then select the [Toolbars]. There will come a toolbar that you can choose like [Address], [Windows Media Player], [Links], [Language bar], [Tablet PC Input Panel], [Desktop], and [Quick Launch]. You can even create your own toolbar by clicking on the [New Toolbar ...].
Because so many toolbars that can be made and used, this could potentially make your desktop look nice and becomes untidy. Although you’ve smoothed it, users can still change the display to change your computer screen, in this case your toolbar. Therefore, you must secure it or lock it to avoid the modification by others.
This way:
1. Click [Start] button and type gpedit.msc in the search field to go into Group Policy.
2. Go to the folder Local Computer Policy-User Configuration-Administrative Templates-Desktop-.
3. Find and double-click settings prohibit adjusting desktop toolbars.
4. In adjusting the windows desktop toolbars prohibit Properties, click the radio button [Enabled] to lock the toolbar.
5. Click [OK] to close the Properties window.
Our job is not finished here. Because, the steps above will only lock the toolbar in a sense, the user can not modify them but can still add or remove toolbar on the desktop and move the position by drag and drop. So what’s the solution?
Follow these steps:
1. If you have been out of Group Policy, run back to the policy editor. After that, go to the same folder with the previous step.
2. Double-click settings Prevent adding, dragging, dropping, and closing the Taskbar’s toolbars are located in the right window.
3. In the Prevent adding, dragging, dropping, and closing the Taskbar’s toolbars Properties, click the option [Enabled].
4. Finally, click [OK] and close the Group Policy window.
Now Desktop on your computer is not biased in kutak tweaking again by someone else.
