@HeyRuka I only have one choice when it comes to broadband…ONE!!! I could get dial-up but i dont consider dial-up as competition so there is no Capitalism as far as broadband is concerned they have control of this area so im screwed if they kill net neutrality

So is the goal to end competition between ISPs or to encourage it?

I see competition in Capitalism as a excellent business, but I’m a bit naive when it comes to…everything.

Net neutrality is a principle which advocates no restrictions by Internet service providers or governments on consumers’ access to networks that participate in the internet. Specifically, network neutrality would prevent restrictions on make pleased, sites, platforms, the kinds of equipment that may be attached, or the modes of communication.

Just because some of the U.S. government support net neutrality, it doesn’t mean it’s a terrible business. Politics sometimes do excellent things to distract public.

@mattjeffrey 1: Why haven’t they done it already. 2. Look what is happening to cell phone company’s that no longer offer unlimited plans. They are losing market share very very quickly because their customers are miserable with their service . I reckon naive to reckon that ISPs are not concerned about losing customers. There is not a problem to solve only a solution that will cause problems.

@jimmybobw Without a neutral net though ALL ISPs would limit services and attach heavy costs to better access… it would be a case of choosing the lesser of two evils rather than the one that doesn’t charge you. I’m not saying this to you directly, but in general there appears to be a lot of naivety on the part of the anti-neutrality argument with public saying that ISPs won’t all charge and it will allow for hospitals and doctors to get quicker net etc when really they’d milk the average user.

The creator of this video assumes that ISP customers as too stupid to switch ISPs if their current service is limiting them. They are also high and mighty that ISP are not in competition with each other and wouldn’t blast negative PR on each other if they found out their competitors are taking up these practices. No ISP has done any of this to date because they know they will get terrible PR and lose more customers than its worth.

@FieldMarshalB Really Comcast started doing some of their own parameter, and that is what started the concern. Comcast made the same error as AOL, and chose to have unlimited internet usage to sell their service, so public started to use it; well their network became bogged down, like AOL, so they chose to block certain type of usage, and made it look like public were have notebook problems. Comcast and Level 3 is another NN issue, as port blocking is becoming common, also.

Wow, I’m shocked that the Daily Show didn’t give the sound tale on this.. Ironically, those “evil companies” aren’t changing anything. It is the government that wants to change the net. See, right now, the net is neutral, but the government and some corporations want to “regulate” the net (control) it, and ironically call the controlled internet “net neutrality.” Just another example of the government using misleading names to push bills, like the “Patriot Act” that gutted our rights
