Microsoft will launch a public test of the web version of Office, although in a limited scale. The application is called the Microsoft Office Web Apps which consists of Word, Excel, and PowePoint, with Word only to display the document. Microsoft says that the web version of OneNote and Word has a ’surface of the same editing’ and technology is developed. The first preview of this application will be reserved for users of Windows Live SkyDrive with 25GB storage media, with the number of users is expected early in the tens of thousands of people.
Launch of Microsoft Office Web Apps are planned together with Office 2010 in the first half of next year. Microsoft Office Web Apps will be free (ad supported), while businesspeople can use SharePoint server through subscription services to Microsoft.
