    Microsoft will launch a public test of the web version of Office, although in a limited scale. The application is called the Microsoft Office Web Apps which consists of Word, Excel, and PowePoint, with Word only to display the document. Microsoft says that the web version of OneNote and Word has a ‘surface of the same editing’ and technology is developed. The first preview of this application will be reserved for users of Windows Live SkyDrive with 25GB storage media, with the number of users is expected early in the tens of thousands of people.

    Launch of Microsoft Office Web Apps are planned together with Office 2010 in the first half of next year. Microsoft Office Web Apps will be free (ad supported), while businesspeople can use SharePoint server through subscription services to Microsoft.
    When later released, the web-based version will be used for editing, though not the same as the old version of the desktop. Microsoft also uses a different approach in the sharing of documents from other competitors. Unlike Google Apps can be shared immediately, Microsoft Office Web Apps do sharing on a folder level – the document must be stored in the user folder with Windows Live SkyDrive sharing.
    Although looks more complicated than Google’s and Zoho which only requires registration before starting work, but the Microsoft Office applications from the Microsoft Web Apps This looks more ‘in’, so really like the desktop package. In addition, the enterprise can also make their own deployment to the host that does not depend on the Internet.
    Microsoft Office Web Apps can work in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari, and maybe in Chrome though Microsoft does not guarantee the compatibility of Chrome.
