Microsoft primary announced the “Longhorn” in July 2001, even earlier than the launch of Windows XP in October the same year. At first, Longhorn is estimated to go on sale at the range in 2003 as a stepping stone between Windows XP and “Blackcomb” (now known as “Windows 7“). But unfortunetly, all of the several features that can make our computer’s performance decreases. Features that enhance display Vista turned out to be a burden for working graphics card. Recommended for people who do not use an office housing the memory burden. Features that used less well off course for computer work faster.

Exactly, what features should be turned off? What all features must be shutdown?. There is no definite answer, depending on the computer in use and the tastes of the owner of the computer. And this time I will discuss it here.

If you are using Windows XP operating system and your hard disk capacity is running low, so if you are just reading this article, because I will it sharing in this article.
After switching to Windows XP from Windows 98, we will feel the difference in the remaining hard disk capacity after installing the operating system. Why? Because Windows XP use my hard disk capacity of 1.5 Gb. While my hard drive is only 6.4 GB. I was surprised, too, and finally after dealing with Windows XP for about a year, I feel that the rest of my hard drive is running low, to less than 650 mb on my C drive partition (I’ve added hard drive and I have 4 partitions).
I try to provide facilities that the Windows XP Disk Cleanup, which can be accessed via:
Accecories> System Tools> Disk Cleanup.
Then asked which disk drives to be cleaned, I choose C only. Then there are other questions where you can choose what action can be done to clean up your disk space.
I chose to compress old files (files that are rarely used or have not been used), membersikan internet temporary files, and temporary in general. After running the Disk Cleanup for a long time (because the compression process) I found the rest of my hard disk of 1.6 GB, so imagine my delight as free disk space is added by the Disk Cleanup utility. But of course this measure also depends on how many there are temporary files, files that are rarely used and how many temporary Internet files on your computer.

This way:
1. Click [Start] button and type gpedit.msc in the search field to go into Group Policy.
2. Go to the folder Local Computer Policy-User Configuration-Administrative Templates-Desktop-.
3. Find and double-click settings prohibit adjusting desktop toolbars.
4. In adjusting the windows desktop toolbars prohibit Properties, click the radio button [Enabled] to lock the toolbar.
5. Click [OK] to close the Properties window.

Follow these steps:
1. If you have been out of Group Policy, run back to the policy editor. After that, go to the same folder with the previous step.
2. Double-click settings Prevent adding, dragging, dropping, and closing the Taskbar’s toolbars are located in the right window.
3. In the Prevent adding, dragging, dropping, and closing the Taskbar’s toolbars Properties, click the option [Enabled].
4. Finally, click [OK] and close the Group Policy window.

Left boot and shutdown faster is just one of many aspects of performance improvement of Windows 7 which already promised Steve Sinofsky. Microsoft can reach the boot time faster through a variety of ways (see details in E7):

Reducing the number of system services
Reduce power consumption CPU, hard disk (HD) and system memory required service
Optimization drivers
Starting some services and drivers in parallel
Optimize prefetching for HD or SSD

Although we have previously discussed how Windows 7 will be more power efficient, WinHEC conference provides further details on how Microsoft achieved this. Some of them are power consumption less when using a wireless network and some kernel optimization that allows the CPU to operate in lower frequencies and have a longer idle time. The end result is the battery life is better than 11% to 15% better than Vista – Windows 7 pre-beta, the final version would be even better.
