@ozak64 Public like me that like Windows want Microsoft to add other things that are useful, like the Windows market place. When they make a huge and useless feature like this, even though we can turn it off, they’ve wasted so much time and money and building a part of the UI that nearly no one is gonna use. So instead of adding something stupid like a tablet-like UI, they could’ve added something useful. That’s why public are complaining.

That won’t happen. The consumer market will shift to drug , but everything else will wait mouse+keyboard based.

You cannot make websites , use photoshop or program software on a tablet. And even if you can it would be 10x harder.

DOS->Windows 1.0.~2.0 Windows just ran on top of DOS and a mouse would have helped but was not required.
Windows 2.0-> 3.1 microsoft took a new milestone and polished the UI some more. Windows still ran on on top of DOS, though. Mouse is not 100% required still, but would help.
3.1 -> 95~7: a complete revolution. Now we NEED a mouse to use windows and DOS just runs as a seperate app.
Windows 7 -> 8: Touchscreen not 100% needed but windows still runs as an app?
8 -> 9: TOUCHSCREEN NEEDED!

@jedixo honestly if windows 8 is usable on minimum condition computers (shit PC’s) i doubt we will see much of any complaints. compatibility issues aren’t hard to solve and after vista i doubt Microsoft will make this mistake again with releasing a operating system to far ahead of its time seeing the post vista age im sure that public will find the transition much better. then again i could always be incorrect and public with 12mb of ram and 1gb oh hdd will be the ones to complain?

@cateye27 also another business i just stumbled upon incase you change your mind about giving it another go. make sure dwm.exe is ENABLED. ctrl+shift+Esc to bring up task manager, select Processes tab, on my machine dwm.exe is right between explorer.exe and daemonu.exe *32. cheers

@chronofusion Sorry, I have a Intel graphics card. I did not build my own PC, I have a Dell Studio 17. (A somewhat new, and has high specs. I can live without Aero. Thankfulness for tiresome to help.

I’m unsure about the Windows 8 UI. I reckon it’s making me lean more towards OS X Lion. Sorry, Microsoft, but I’m sticking with Windows Explorer until I’m confident.

@cateye27 system restore point? if nvidia video card re enable ” feature ” under ” adjust image settings with preview” then ” use my preference emphasizing ” feature or balanced” if (performance) won’t auto allow aero desktop effects to work again, If amd or ati not sure. did you custom built your machine? are you against a fresh clean re install of windows if all else fails? antialiasing conflict with a certain pc game? these are the examples i ran into. hope it helps.
